Because of GlobeCast's recently acquired second transponder on Eutelsat’s EUROBIRD™ 9 satellite interested parties have certainly benefitted. MTV has become the first major broadcaster to buy in to the content management and delivery company in order to provide distribution and capacity for
MTV Portugal.

Then there's the added bonus — as a result of its close proximity to
Eutelsat’s HOT BIRD™ neighborhood that allows programs from both satellites to be received using a single dish, EUROBIRD™ 9 is sure to be one of the most coveted spots in the sky. Located at
9° East, EUROBIRD™ 9 provides broadcasters with the opportunity to reach
50 million households across
Europe, the
Middle East and
Northern Africa equipped for HOT BIRD™
Direct-to-Home reception. GlobeCast has two dedicated transponders on EUROBIRD™ 9 that facilitate uplink from the
UK and
France. As a result of its easy dual reception, EUROBIRD™ 9 has a shared community with
1,100 channels on HOT BIRD™ and provides users with immediate access to major cable and DTH operators.

GlobeCast receives MTV’s channel feed via fiber at its central
London Technical Operations Centre in Gray’s Inn Road. From there the signal is sent via fiber to GlobeCast’s
Brookmans Park facility where it is uplinked to the EUROBIRD™ 9 satellite for downlink by Portuguese cable and satellite operators, including
TVTel and
TV Cabo.
