The show will see the Asian debut of a number of Ericsson solutions that are designed to enable multimedia convergence and more personalized interaction for consumers, blending broadcast and broadband to deliver multi-platform, multi-screen TV. Demos will include:
- Asian debut: The newly introduced Ericsson 3D solution addresses challenges in both content acquisition as well as direct-to-home delivery of 3D content. The demonstration simulates a venue to viewer environment, delivering a pragmatic approach to solving 3DTV needs today and enabling the broadcasting industry to immediately move forward with a compelling 3DTV offering. The solution received a ‘Star technology’ award at NAB and is being used my a number of operators, such as ESPN and Channel 9 in Australia, to deliver cutting edge TV experiences
- Global launch: Ericsson’s new EN8130 MPEG-4 SD encoder greatly increases the efficiency of DTH networks and allows operators to add more services for their subscribers without the additional operating expense of more bandwidth. In addition, CommunicAsia will see the Asian debut of the recently launched EN8190 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder, which when combined with the new EN8130, enables both HD and SD service offerings to be efficiently expanded to provide more choice for consumers and more revenue per bit for operators
- Asian debut: The Ericsson IPTV Remote, a new device for controlling the TV and multiple other media devices throughout the connected home. It also provides a second screen for previewing content, exploring program guides, browsing the web and chatting with friends and family without a distracting window on the TV screen
- Asian debut: The Ericsson Connected Home Gateway serves as a single service-delivery platform and allows remote management for service provisioning and maintenance, helping to minimize operational costs
- The Ericsson IPTV Multimedia solution – a next generation, open, flexible, convergent IPTV solution for delivering differentiated services; enabling a personalized and interactive TV experience
- Ericsson’s award-winning WatchPoint® Content Management System (CMS) via a live system. This revolutionary system provides centralized management of any metadata format, content type, and workflow process
- A TiVo / Hybrid TV system, featuring the OpenStream® Digital Services Platform by Ericsson (DSP) and WatchPoint® Content Management Solution (CMS) used for service delivery over broadband networks as demonstrated through the Hybrid Television Services (HTS) TiVo broadband TV service deployed in Australia
