Nigerian Data Services From Galaxy Are Cemented In With SES WORLD SKIES


SES WORLD SKIES SES WORLD SKIES, a division of SES SA (Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) has an agreement with Galaxy Backbone to supply capacity on the ASTRA 2B satellite which will allow the company to provide data services in Nigeria. Galaxy Backbone will use the capacity to provide Internet access and private video, voice and data network links to universities, medical centres and between Nigerian government field offices and the nation's capital city of Abuja. The capacity will also allow Galaxy to offer long distance learning, telemedicine and videoconferencing services out of mobile, solar-powered vehicles travelling around the streets of rural towns and villages. No financial details of the deal were disclosed. Galaxy will make use of two of the transponders on the satellite.
