XipLink + Lufthansa Technik + SatCom Direct Optimize Their Relationship

Xiplink and Lufthansa Technik have completed integration of XipLink Embedded (XE) wireless optimization software on their Mobile Access Router. Simultaneously, Satcom Direct has developed an aircraft broadband service offering based on the Lufthansa Technik and XipLink technology. Lufthansa Technik supplies the Network Integrated Cabin Equipment system that includes wireless passenger access to the Internet at speeds ranging from 64 Kbps to more than 3 Mbps. The system includes an optimized high-speed router with embedded XipLink software that significantly increases, by a factor of 2x and higher, the available bandwidth to each aircraft and operates over both L- and Ku-band satellites. By using integrated software optimization from XipLink, Lufthansa Technik has enhanced functionality to the Mobile Access Router without the need to consume precious cabin space or burden the aircraft with additional weight. This software is also available for current users of the MAR via a software upgrade In combination with the announcement of the optimized Lufthansa Technik MAR, Satcom Direct, an innovative leader in global satellite communications has also installed the XipLink XA-Series appliances in their teleport in support of the AeroX optimized service. End users connecting across the AeroX service that also use the remote XipLink software, whether embedded on a mobile device or when connecting across a XipLink appliance, are transparently optimized with no added software or configuration required on the end user’s PC. Typical users can experience 200 percent throughput gains and frequently much higher.
