Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE: ORB) has named Mr. Patrick Rayermann Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and Development. Mr. Rayermann comes to Orbital after a distinguished career in the U.S. Army, where he attained the rank of Colonel with a focus on U.S. national security space systems. In his new role, Mr. Rayermann will be responsible for identifying the strategic and budgetary challenges that Orbital’s government customers are facing and offering innovative solutions to overcome these obstacles. Mr. Rayermann will be one of the company’s leading representatives to government organizations involved in military satellite communications, as well as other national security space markets.

Mr. Rayermann began his active-duty military career in 1981 after working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for seven years. During his 30-year career in the Army, he served in numerous leadership roles supporting the Department of Defense’s exploitation of space capabilities, with a focus on satellite communications. His positions included Commander, 1st Satellite Control Battalion; G-3 (Chief Operations Officer) of the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command; member of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP)-chartered Future Land Imaging Interagency Working Group; and, most recently, Chief of Staff of the Department of Defense Executive Agent for Space Staff. During his U.S. Army career, Mr. Rayermann received numerous awards and honors, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the Joint Commendation Medal. Mr. Rayermann holds master’s degrees in Computer Resources & Information Management from Webster University and in Strategic Studies from the Army War College. He received his BS in Physics from UCLA and is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College.
