BGAN'ing USACE Are Vizada + Delta Wave Communications

Vizada logo Vizada has won a contract with Delta Wave Communications Inc. to supply the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) with Inmarsat and Iridium mobile satellite communications services in the United States and overseas.

Vizada will provide sub-contracted services to Delta Wave as part of a deal worth up to US$3 million dollars per year over a three-year period. The USACE provides engineering and infrastructure services including the planning, design and building of water resources (navigation, flood control, disaster response, etc.), as well as the construction of military facilities for the Army and Air Force and Defense and Federal agencies. In recent years, USACE engineers have been deployed to aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, as well as to assist the U.S. Military on infrastructure projects in Iraq and Afghanistan. Vizada and Delta Wave will supply mobile satellite airtime to the USACE, as well as Vizada’s technical expertise, 24-hour customer support, and a customized billing system for Inmarsat and Iridium communications.

The mobile satellite services provided to the USACE include Inmarsat BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network), enabling a broadband data connection (492 kbps) and simultaneous voice calls. BGAN satellite coverage is global and the laptop-sized terminal can be carried from location to location. In addition, the Iridium 9505A handheld mobile telephone enables engineers to make voice calls from anywhere in the world, including the north and south poles.
