ViaSat Conducive To KSAT's Northern Needs

Tromsø Satellite Station (Kongsberg) ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) will provide two antenna systems to Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) of Tromsø, Norway under a contract valued at approximately $3 million. The antenna systems are designed for receiving satellite imagery (remote sensing) and satellite monitor and control. The planned ViaSat satellite antenna installations include one 5.4 meter X-band receive and S-band Telemetry, Tracking, and Control (TT&C) antenna at KSAT headquarters in Tromsø and one 7.3 meter X-band receive and S-band TT&C antenna system at the KSAT SvalSat site in Svalbard. The location of KSAT in the very far northern and southern latitudes is ideal for downloading data as it experiences more frequent overhead passes of polar orbiting satellites. Satellite imagery customers use the images for crop management, fisheries, marine surveillance, town management, and other applications. KSAT already has two ViaSat 7.3 meter X-band receive and S-band TT&C antenna systems at its Svalbard facility and one 7.3 meter X-band receive and S-band TT&C antenna system at its Troll facility in Antarctica.
