ARINC... Bag It (Network)

[SatNews] When implemented, both bags and passengers will be managed...

ARINC Incorporated has begun a fast-track installation of its versatile AviNet Airport™ IP network service at 19 major airports for British Airways. The deployment in 11 countries is expected to be completed this April. ARINC’s work supports British Airways’ current migration of its legacy passenger reconciliation system (PRS) onto a modern IP-based network platform. A long-time ARINC customer, British Airways employs ARINC’s MUSE® common-use passenger technology at all 19 airports, including Terminal 3 at British Airways’ hub location of London Heathrow. The carrier also makes use of CUSS kiosk technology supported by ARINC at many of the airports.

ARINC will provide a fully-integrated solution for British Airways at each location, including deployment of the carrier’s new application on the existing MUSE platforms and the provisioning of a new fully-managed end-to-end IP AviNet Airport service at each location. ARINC will also integrate its reliable new IP-based delivery method for Baggage Source Messages (BSMs) at each of the airports where ARINC BagLink™ technology is installed. ARINC is providing the fully-integrated solution to British Airways as a single "AviNet Airport" service, allowing the carrier to delegate the management of most deployment elements to ARINC.
