The Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) has initiated satellite transmissions from the Beijing Summer Olympic Games to the territory of the Russian Federation. Using special frequency bands on advanced Express-AM satellites, Russian TV and radio broadcasters will ensure direct reports and occasional TV transmissions of the Games. Thanks to RSCC’ satellites, audiences of the Russian Federal TV channels will be able to observe the sporting events in China from any location within Russia. Today’s transmission are the result of the work RSCC started in 2003 within the Russian-Chinese Governmental Commission, having been one of the organizers of the Working Group on Satellite Communications. This Working Group worked out the Memorandum of Understanding for International Satellite TV Transmissions from 2008 Olympic Games between RSCC and China NetCom company.
