...U.K. broadcasters, SimpleStream has recently upgraded its infrastructure. With the help of Garland Partners, SimpleStream is expanding its proprietary Media Manager software to cater for the local TV, retail, corporate, and educational sectors. SimpleStream’s headends have been upgraded to use expandable and redundant solutions from Teracue and Allegro provided by Garland Partners. Teracue provides the DVB-IP gateway technology and Allegro provides the high-density IP transcoding platform.
“SimpleStream is using the Teracue DMM gateways, with each 4RU chassis fully populated with 8 x DMM-140-S2 blades to receive multiple satellite channels and turn them around into IP streams,” said Lorna Garrett, Director of Garland Partners. “Clusters of Allegro AL2400 IP transcoders take in the multiple channels and transcodes them into multiple formats at multiple bitrates for high-quality, OTT delivery services that then target many different end platforms, including PCs, TVs, tablets, and smartphones.”
Garrett explains this was the perfect solution to match SimpleStream’s growth... “As their satellite channel and live streaming offerings grow, they simply add Teracue DMM-140 blades for more ingest of satellite channels, and then increase the number of Allegro AL2400 transcoding modules (up to six) in the same 1RU chassis to carry out more channels of transcoding.”
Garland Partners will be exhibiting at the TV Connect show running from the 19th to 21st of March at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London.
