The EBU is using NovelSat’s NS3-powered NS1000 and NS2000 satellite modulators and demodulators to improve bandwidth efficiency and drive down costs. The deployment of NovelSat satellite modulation technology enables the EBU to reduce costs while increasing bandwidth availability and improving fade margins. The NovelSat equipment will be used in the transmission of live pictures of several major 2012 sporting events, including broadcast feeds covering Formula 1, the London Olympics and the UEFA Euro 2012 football championship. The decision to choose NovelSat came after technology analysis and comparative evaluation of available solutions. The Novelsat equipment backward compatibility with DVB-S2 was considered a definite plus for the transitional period.
