USAF Space & Missile Systems Center... A Salute To Santa

[SatNews] Holiday Cheer was spread around the world this year to those troops deployed from the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base. Recognizing the importance of remembering those individuals who are not with their families during the holiday season, the Infrared Space Systems Directorate raised money to purchase the care-package items. Names of the deployed were collected from across the base and a package was individually prepared. Lt. Gen. Tom Sheridan, commander, SMC, specially prepared a note to be included with each parcel.

“The Holidays are especially difficult for those far away from family and friends", said Col. Roger Teague, director, Infrared Space Systems Directorate. "Bringing a little bit of home to our members is a reflection of how important our organization takes the Wingman concept”. The parcels were personally delivered to the post office by Col. Roger Teague, Capt. Josh Wehrle, and their wives Kimberly and McKinzie. As a former deployed service member, Capt Wehrle knows the importance of connecting with home.

“These care packages certainly will serve as a reminder to our deployed brothers and sisters that we here at home are thinking about them and miss them very much", said Capt Wehrle. "We can’t lose sight of the sacrifices they are making for us on a daily basis.” The Directorate continues to look for ways to recognize those who serve our country tirelessly protecting our nation 24/7.
