The WTA Wants Green Teleports

The World Teleport Association has launched a new “Green Teleport” campaign to help its members improve their energy efficiency, slash energy costs, and make their energy-dependent businesses more sustainable.  Kicking off with publication of a white paper, “The Green Teleport: The Business Case for Sustainability,” the campaign includes online resources to help members start reducing costs and carbon, a survey of current energy management practices and concerns, and two events taking place during SATELLITE 2010 in Washington DC: a Members Forum meeting to explore the issue, and presentation of WTA’s first-ever Green Teleport Award during the annual Teleport Awards for Excellence.  With the assistance of industry veteran Mary Frost Distler, WTA has compiled a resource center on its Web site for member companies.  Frost, former Chief Executive Officer at GlobeCast America and founder of the newly formed Power to Change US, recently completed advanced energy technology studies at the New York Institute of Technology. More information on the Teleport Awards for Excellence, the Green Teleport resources and WTA’s Member Forum can be found on the web site at www.worldteleport.org.
