USGS... Moving On Up...

[SatNews] The U.S. Geological Survey's EROS data center north of Sioux Falls has a new leader.

Frank Kelly will serve as director of the Center for Earth Resources Observations and Science, which is the main federal repository for satellite images. Kelly comes to South Dakota from Anchorage, Alaska, where he served as the National Weather Service regional director. Kelly will also be the survey's space policy advisor as it prepares for the scheduled launch of a new Landsat satellite in December. USGS Director Marcia McNutt says Kelly's experience and credentials puts the USGS mission in good hands.
