Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM) will discuss the growing use of satellite networks and file-based workflows in the broadcast and media sectors at the Satellite and Content Delivery Conference and Expo (SATCON) 2011, October 12-13 in New York City. Thomas Parish, Globecomm Senior Vice President for Broadcast Technology, will participate in a panel discussion on the topic of “File-based Distribution Over Satellite”, Wednesday, October 12th, at 11:45 AM EST. The panel will review how file-based workflows are used in the film and television industries, and will address the issues of initial content capture, multiplatform distribution, media asset management, workflows, networks and service providers. The panel will be moderated by John McCoskey, CTO for PBS, and in addition to Mr. Parish, will include Bob Seidel, VP of Engineering Advanced Technology for CBS Television Network. Globecomm will also demonstrate its worldwide network broadcasting solutions, including satellite, fiber or pure teleport delivery services, content aggregation and encoding, worldwide headend distribution, and robust disaster recovery services with full redundancy and fail-over switching. The Company delivers connectivity from eight different Teleports and more than 48 different satellites, and currently broadcasts and monitors 100 high definition and/or standard definition channels, carrying 800,000 hours of content each year.
