Thales Alenia Space has contracted with JSC “ISS – Reshetnev Company” to supply the KazSat3 communications satellite payload. Thales Alenia Space will be the communications payload supplier. The satellite will be based on an Express 1000 platform provided by JSC “ISS – Reshetnev Company” and the satellite will be integrated and tested in ISS’ premises, Zheleznogorsk, Russia. KazSat3 will operate at 58.5 degrees East for a projected 15 year lifetime. The payload power is about 5.5 kW. KazSat3 will carry 28 active Ku-band transponders to cover Kazakhstan.
