  • EAMobile RockBand page EA Mobile™, Harmonix, and MTV Games, have released ROCK BAND™ on the App Store. ROCK BAND allows players to enjoy a full-band multiplayer experience on iPhone® and iPod® touch and the game launches with 20 full-length songs, with additional songs available for purchase via the In App Purchase feature. In ROCK BAND, players can jam solo or push it to the limit with live Bluetooth multiplayer. Over Bluetooth, play with as many as four people, earn unison bonuses, and save friends that drop out by activating overdrive. Rock out on guitar, bass, mic and drums to MP3-quality songs on easy, medium or difficult. Jump into Quickplay for casual sessions or take it on the road in Tour Mode. If no one is in Bluetooth range to form a band, sync up via Facebook with friends around the world. Use the in-game message center to communicate with Facebook friends from within the game. Enjoy playing along to 20 legendary songs from well-known artists such as Smashing Pumpkins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foo Fighters, and Blink-182. Start out playing in grungy dives and work all the way up to stadium-rock stardom, collecting rewards and achievements that provide replay value and depth to even the most experienced ROCK BAND veterans.


  • eMedia Guitar Method 5 eMedia Music Corp. has released Version 5.0 of eMedia Guitar Method with new, advanced audio recognition software technology that actually "listens" to the student playing melodies and reveals whether the correct notes are being played. Plus, the new Finger Tracker shows the actual note being played on an on-screen fretboard, and the new Note Tracker shows that note in standard music notation. An expanded curriculum offers more than 180 lessons all presented in full-screen resolution for easy viewing. The 50+ videos can also be viewed in full-screen mode. Lessons from Kevin Garry (Ph.D., University of Colorado-Boulder) cover everything from the basics to chord strumming, playing melodies and fingerpicking, and now include new interactive quizzes to speed up learning. The material covers folk, blues, classical and rock styles and includes over 70 popular songs from artists such as Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones and Steve Miller.   • HD Cloud logo HD Cloud, a video technology service provider, has unveiled HD Accelerate™, a service that can transcode a two-hour movie file in multiple separate video formats in less than ten minutes.  The service will be rolled out to large-scale video-on-demand providers and film studio libraries in the coming months. HD Accelerate uses a unique parallel encoding technique developed by HD Cloud that enables an unlimited number of output formats. Separately, the company also announced that HD Accelerate has performed 4,500 video encodes at 100 megabits per second (mb/s) each in a 20-minute period using 900 processors, which is believed to be an industry record.  HD Cloud handles large video files and high bit-rate content (up to 1080p and 100 mb/s), offering customers a premium-quality video encoding experience with a superior return on investment. Since its launch, HD Cloud has increased its technology profile to address feature-film distributors’ needs for in-the-cloud transcoding on on-demand feeds.
