Col. Chris Chambliss handed the reins over to Col. Pete Gersten, an F-16 pilot with more than 2,800 flying hours. Prior to arriving to Creech, Gersten served as the 8th Operations Group commander at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea. Lt. Gen. Norman Seip, commander of 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), thanked Chambliss and his wife for their time at Creech. Gersten assumes command of more than 2,000 active-duty, Air Guard and reserve personnel, government civilians, contractors, and the wing staff. He also has operational command over more than 250 Guard personnel located in Texas, Arizona, California, and North Dakota. The 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing was established in May 2008 to put unmanned aerial vehicle operators on equal footing with their manned brethren in Iraq and Afghanistan. It falls directly under the 9th Air Force/U.S. Air Forces Central and the 12th Air Force/U.S. Air Forces Southern.
