Kuwait-based Wataniya Airways has announced that it will be fitting the SwiftBroadband-ready Mobile OnAir solution to its fleet of new Airbus A320 aircraft when the airline begins operations in January 2009. Passengers will be able to stay connected in-flight using their mobile phones or PDAs to send and receive text messages and emails but they won't initially have the option to make or receive voice calls. Airblue in Pakistan has, in a separate announcement, said that it will also deploy Mobile OnAir on its fleet of 12 Airbus A320 aircraft during 2009. Its passengers will be able to make and receive voice calls, send text messages, emails and download attachments.

Airlines in Kuwait and Pakistan are the latest to announce their intention to fit OnAir's in-flight connectivity solution to enable passengers to use mobile devices during flight.
