SMOS + Proba-2 Sats Get A Lift Onto Breeze KM

Proba-2 hoisting at Eurockot The Khrunichev/ESA/Space Forces/Eurockot launch team preparing a Rockot launcher to its November 2nd launch with ESA’S SMOS and Proba -2 spacecraft has successfully completed the spacecraft and rocket elements standalone checkouts and has started joint operations on assembling the Rockot Upper Composite (consisting of the spacecraft, adapter, Breeze KM upper stage and the fairing). The main activities of this phase — the hoisting of the two satellites onto the launcher upper stage and finally encapsulation into the payload fairing — are performed in clean rooms of the Rocket launcher integration building (“MIK”). Both spacecraft, SMOS and Proba-2, have already been mated with the Breeze KM upper stage. Within the next couple of days, all necessary preparations will be made for the encapsulation of the spacecraft into the fairing.
