TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS) has announced that two of its SwiftLink® products — the flyaway Satellite Access Baseband Remote (SABR) 2.4M Quad-Band VSAT Terminal and the man-packable Stingray 45-X Ultra Small Aperture Terminal (USAT) have received the 2009 Satellite Product of the Year Award from TMCnet.com. The SwiftLink deployable communications suite provides battle-tested, reliable Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) and Nonsecure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) connectivity and is designed using an EoIP (Everything-Over-IP) architecture to empower the Warfighter with seamless, secure interoperable communications in remote forward-deployed locations.
The SABR 2.4M terminal is a comprehensive quad band VSAT solution with configurable antenna that supports Ka-, Ku-, X- and C-bands. It is designed for plug-and-play interoperability with any of TCS’ four different baseband network packages and any standards-based L-band satellite modem. Like the rest of the SABR VSAT family, it comes with a one-button satellite auto-acquisition function, optional auto-tracking capability, an integrated spectrum analyzer and a user-friendly graphical user interface for easy and rapid setup. The SABR 2.4M terminal is built with the best-of-breed components industry has to offer and has been ruggedized for operations in extreme environments. More significantly, the SABR VSAT terminal family is far along in the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (SMDC/ARSTRAT) testing and certification cycle to ensure that these terminals will meet the stringent performance and operational control requirements of the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system.
Alternatively, the SwiftLink Stingray 45-X is a USAT designed to specifically meet the needs of small, deployed teams. It supports any standards based L-band modem including the iDirect Evolution, iDirect iNFINITI 7000 series and the Hughes HX200.The Stingray 45-X manpack meets FAA requirements for aircraft overhead compartment storage and is easily transportable in a backpack. Minimal user training is required as the LCD display and integral spectrum analyzer helps operators with satellite acquisition, allowing it to be up and running within a few minutes.
The 1st Annual Satellite Product of the Year Award winners will be featured on TMCnet.com and published in its e-newsletter.
