SkyTerra (OTCBB: SKYT) has named Gary Epstein as Executive Vice President of Law and Regulation and he will be responsible for the legal, legislative, and regulatory strategy at SkyTerra.
Mr. Epstein served as a team leader on the Economics and International Trade Team in the Obama-Biden Transition. Most recently, he was appointed to serve at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to provide leadership for the ongoing digital television transition. Until December 2008, Mr. Epstein was a Senior Partner at Latham & Watkins where he was the Global Chair of the Communications Practice Group, and led the firm’s Telecommunications Law Practice. Among many other matters, he represented XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. before the FCC to win approval for its merger with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. He provided telecommunications sector advice to a wide variety of clients including several foreign governments and investors. Mr. Epstein was recently recognized by the 2008 Chambers & Partners United States and Global Directories as a leading telecom, broadcast and satellite lawyer in the Washington, D.C. market.
