Xicom Brings Even More Amplification To SATCOM

Xicom TWTA photo 2 Xicom Technology has debuted new, lightweight, high power traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) for domestic and international satellite communications. The new TWTA's operate in C-band (Model XTRD-1250CL) or Ku-Band (Model XTRD-1250KL) uplink frequencies. Customers can learn more about these new products at Xicom's booth, 308, at the Satellite 2009 trade show in Washington, March 25-27.

Xicom's new TWTA, Model XTRD-1250KL, is designed for uplink SATCOM operation within the 13.75 to 14.50 GHz Ku-band frequency. Weighing only 115 pounds, the new rack-mount power amplifier is more than 25 percent lighter than competitive amplifiers. In addition, the Xicom amplifier saves valuable space as it occupies only 6 rack units (10.45 inches in height), as compared to competitive amplifiers which are 50 percent larger. Model XTRD-1250CL, operating in the 5.85-6.425 GHz uplink C-band, is available in the same lightweight package. These amplifiers are the ideal solution for transmit applications where minimizing weight and space are key issues. The TWTAs deliver 1.25 kilowatts of peak power with linear rated flange power of 450 watts. Additional standard features include RF gain control, pre- distortion linearizer, solid-state pre-amplifier, cooling and M&C.
