
Ciena says it is starting to make waves in the submarine cable space following its Nortel optical net acquisition, yesterday announcing a major deal to upgrade Reliance Globalcom's Europe-Middle East cable to 40G wavelengths. The network upgrade takes the cable's capacity to 2.4 terabits according to Ciena.
