ITT Exelis... Imagery Asset (Comms—ISR)

[SatNews] ITT Exelis  (NYSE: XLS) will unveil its newest solution for the management and dissemination of....

....imagery, wide-area motion imagery and environmental data and video at the American Meteorological Society annual meeting Jan. 22-26 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known as JAGWIREEnvironmental Data System (JAGWIRE-EDS), it is the latest product from Exelis that expands upon the capabilities of the Exelis-built JAGWIRE solution. JAGWIRE combines and enhances the capabilities of the company’s adLib™ software with Enhanced AGILE Access system, providing warfighters one seamless solution for the processing, search, discovery, dissemination and exploitation of still imagery, wide-area motion imagery and full-motion video.

JAGWIRE-EDS adds the capability to manage, compress and distribute weather, climate and planetary science data formats such as netCDF and GRIB2, including the associated metadata. It is interoperable, extensible, scalable and allows for secure streaming of data. The agility of JAGWIRE-EDS allows it to be integrated into a service oriented architecture solution or serve as a standalone system. The amount of weather data is expected to increase exponentially over the next 10 years with the development of new satellite sensors such as the Exelis-built Advanced Baseline Imager.

In October 2011, Exelis announced its latest version of JAGWIRE—a solution that combines the capabilities of its adLib full-motion video software with its Enhanced AGILE Access system for still imagery and wide-area motion imagery. This unique web-based, net-centric, standards-compliant solution has revolutionized situational awareness by enabling users to capture, process, store and disseminate full-motion video and intelligence information in near real time while optimizing system interoperability and bandwidth use. By expanding the current JAGWIRE solution to include non-imagery data, JAGWIRE-EDS enables environmental science data users to have assured access to a variety of information within their existing infrastructure while maintaining interoperability.
