Moving On Up... At Intelsat...

Skot Butler, an executive with broad experience marketing satellite services to a range of government and commercial users, has been named Director of Strategic Initiatives of Intelsat General Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intelsat Ltd.

In his new role, Butler will initially lead the Intelsat General team working to win the Pentagon’s $8 billion Future Commercial Satellite Communications Architecture (FCSA) contract, to be awarded by the Defense Information Service Agency in 2010. The contract will replace the decade-old DSTS-G contract vehicle now used by the military to lease commercial satellite capacity and services. Butler joined Intelsat General in 2006 as a founding member of the company’s hosted payload team, which recently executed a $167 million contract for Intelsat to provide a hosted UHF payload to the Australian Defence Forces on a satellite to be launched in 2012. Prior to working at Intelsat General, Butler was director of business development at Spacelink International (now part of DRS Technologies). Before joining Spacelink, Butler helped launch Verestar Government Services, which was acquired by SES Americom Government Services in 2004.
