Beam Me Up For Iridium SatPhone Docking

BEAM Communications homepage Beam Communications has announced that Iridium Satellite LLC ("Iridium") has certified its SatDOCK 9555 fully-integrated docking station for the Iridium 9555 satellite phone. As one of the first fully-integrated Iridium 9555 docking stations to receive Iridium certification, the SatDOCK enables ease-of-use for the Iridium 9555 satellite phone in a wide range of applications in the land transport, maritime, and aeronautical sectors. The SatDOCK 9555 also provides for indoor use for connection to remote staff members, and allows for a reliable communications tool in the case of an emergency or disaster.

The Beam SatDOCK enhances and protects the new Iridium 9555 handheld through intelligent software and hardware management.  It provides a high quality, semi-permanent installation, using echo cancelling and full duplex technologies for excellent voice quality.  The Beam SatDOCK provides a secure locking mechanism and protects the new Iridium 9555 handheld, but the phone can be removed almost instantly in "grab-and-go" scenarios. There is substantial usage cost savings for customers who use Iridium phones with Beam Docking Stations compared to landline-originated calls.  For example, for organizations with field employees that rely on Iridium phones for critical communications, calls through Beam Docking Stations to other Iridium phones can cost ten percent of the cost of landline-originated calls, a savings that, in less than a year, covers the investment of purchasing a Beam Docking Station, an Iridium 9555, and a monthly service plan if used for 30 minutes per month.
