ATSC Mobile DTV Candidate Standard A/153 allows the broadcast industry to offer real-time programming and services to mobile customers almost anywhere, and provides them with new potential revenue opportunities. Rohde & Schwarz was a pioneer in the development of ATSC-M/H and Advanced-VSB (A-VSB) technology for mobile environments. On April 2nd, the company introduced a family of ATSC Mobile DTV equipment that allows U.S. broadcasters to immediately begin transmission of ATSC Mobile DTV services. Several broadcast stations will be using Rohde & Schwarz equipment to provide mobile content to ATSC Mobile DTV-capable receivers in the Las Vegas DTV broadcast market, as well as at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Sinclair Broadcast Group station KVCW will be broadcasting three Mobile DTV services on Channel 29: "theCW" primary (33.1), the PBS primary (10.1), and "THECOOLTV", an interactive Rich Media Environment (RME)-enhanced service created by MobiTV and The Cool Music Network, using the new R&S AEM100 Emission Multiplexer and a Ai Quantum IOT transmitter featuring the R&S SX800 Exciter, which can be Mobile DTV enabled by software.
