PCI Bringing Answers To Communications Chaos To Fall World 2009 Conference


Fall World 2009 conference banner Proactive Communications, Inc. (PCI will be hosting a technical session at the Disaster Recovery Journal’s Fall World Conference 2009 (DRJ Fall World 2009). The conference, themed “Strategies for a Successful Business Continuity Program,” will be held September 13-16 in San Diego, California, at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. George D. Ragsdale, director of engineering for PCI, will present the topic of “Delivering Communications Out of Chaos” for intermediate/advanced attendees of Fall World 2009 during Technical Session 4 on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. in Harbor Island Ballroom 2. In his presentation, Mr. Ragsdale will discuss how the lack of an operable terrestrial communications structure can become a severe problem in the wake of a natural or man-made disaster. He will describe how satellite solutions are ideally suited to help restore the communications capabilities that are critical for first responders to do their jobs. Mr. Ragsdale will also talk about how satellite technologies can efficiently establish Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone and data services via portable satellite terminals. Attendees of this session will learn best practices in deploying an emergency network that allow disaster victims to contact their families and help contractors and aid workers do their jobs through phone service, email and Web access.
