[SatNews] SkyVision Global Networks LLC has upgraded its SkyVision Advantage and SkyDirect Premium satellite-based Internet services with iDirect’s Evolution platform.
By upgrading to Evolution, SkyVision can guarantee more reliable Internet access for customers and provide more flexible bandwidth management options. SkyVision Advantage and SkyDirect VSAT series offer high-quality Internet connectivity via satellite for a range of customers, including financial institutions, regional and global enterprises, government agencies, and Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Both services include an iDirect Evolution X3 satellite router with access to dedicated or low-contention bandwidth on the powerful NSS-10 satellite, using weather-resistant C-band frequencies to ensure reliable Internet connections even in remote locations. The solutions are designed to support a variety of bandwidth-intensive application needs, including File Transfer Protocol (FTP), video conferencing and Voice over IP (VoIP). SkyVision’s systems are easy to install and offer real-time traffic management via a team of expert IP engineers at SkyVision’s technical support center, available 24/7 to customers.
Based on the DVB-S2 transmission standard with ACM (Adaptive Coding and Modulation), Evolution enables service providers such as SkyVision to dramatically improve space segment efficiency, up to 50 percent in most cases, and use the additional bandwidth to increase data rates and expand services to new customers. iDirect’s ACM technology also helps SkyVision ensure higher service availability by automatically optimizing link performance during adverse weather conditions. Further, built-in features such as Evolution’s bandwidth allocation algorithm, Group QoS, allow SkyVision to offer more flexibility for quality of service levels, bandwidth management and traffic prioritization to customers.
