[SatNews] The Company is providing their VoIP technology to enhance services in Argentina...
ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) is supplying its Edge Access Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) system to Grupo TVSA of Argentina, enabling the CATV and broadband Internet provider to offer triple play services. The ViaSat softswitch communication system delivers end-to-end, enhanced satellite VoIP networking for broadband, enterprise managed services, wholesale services, peering, and hosted applications.
ViaSat is also integrating a back office application for administration, provisioning, and billing from IPVision called SIMA into the Grupo TVSA network. The combination will enable Grupo TVSA to launch services in cooperation with three national subsidiaries: Teledifusora S.A. (Rosario City), Megavisión Santiago S.A. (Santiago del Estero City), Decoteve S.A. (Salta City). The project involves deploying phone services on more than 15,000 lines, including SS7 protocols for interconnecting with telephony incumbents in the region.
Alfredo Argiz, General Director, Grupo TVSA, said, “After a thorough evaluation of leading softswitch systems, we selected ViaSat because they are providing the combination of a leading softswitch with an integrated back office system, as well as local support and expertise. Now we can offer carrier-class telephony to our broadband users.” This was followed by a comment from Sergio Lastra, ViaSat sales manager for Latin America. “Our system integrated easily with Grupo TVSA infrastructure and is adding value and support to the company’s growth plans. In addition, we thank IPVision for its work and support on this project.”
