Telkom 3 satellite (ISS Reshetnev) Thales Alenia Space now has a contract with JSC “ISS – Reshetnev Company” (formerly NPO-PM) to supply the Telkom-3 communications satellite payload.

ISS, prime contractor, is building the satellite for Indonesian operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia TdK, the largest full information and communications (InfoComm) service and network provider in Indonesia. ISS serves as the prime contractor providing its Express-1000H platform and Thales Alenia Space as communications payload supplier. The satellite will be integrated and tested in ISS premises in Russia. Slated for launch in 2011, Telkom-3 will also expand the operator’s capacity from 118 degrees East orbital location in C-band and will offer new transponders in Ku-band with three coverages over South East Asia for DTH and GSM/Internet backhaul services. The satellite’s total mass at launch will be approximately 1.6 tons and the payload power about 5.6 kW. Telkom-3 will carry 32 C-band and 10 Ku-band transponders.
