[SatNews] GlobeCast provided a full HD 3D solution on May 26th for the live broadcast of the final of the French reality TV show Nouvelle Star. Two hundred VIPs invited by broadcaster M6 to a cinema in Paris, as well as the subscribers to Orange’s experimental 3D channel with access to a 3D television, were treated to a perfect rendering of the depth, colors and light effects of the set.
This contribution solution, developed in partnership with ATEME, uses H264 4:2:2 10-bit compression and allows for delivery of full 3D stereoscopic images via satellite or fiber while preserving optimal image quality. The dual streaming technology allows for each image (left and right) to retain its full resolution (1920x1080), in contrast to "side-by-side" solutions. GlobeCast is concentrating efforts on providing universal 3D contribution to ensure the delivery of live sporting events and shows from anywhere in the world. A subsidiary of France Telecom/Orange, GlobeCast is a provider of media management and global content delivery services for broadcasters and content creators.
