Both Vizada media customers are existing users of the Inmarsat BGAN service, a mobile satellite device that enables reporters to perform live broadcasting anywhere in the world. With X-Stream, customers now benefit from a guaranteed streaming service with increased data rates of up to 450 kbps, minimum of 384 kbps. The test phase was coordinated closely with Vizada’s Service Provider partners Digital Skies and Atlas Telecom. BGAN X-Stream also caters for government and military customers requiring increased data connection speeds for live videoconferencing and other bandwidth-hungry applications, particularly for media and government customers. Vizada provides media customers with a package comprising the BGAN X-Stream service, combined with Vizada Solutions to meet the video transmission, voice calling, end-to-end traffic termination and cost control requirements of users operating remotely. For example, Vizada’s free web-based management system The Source enables service providers to track and manage end-user accounts. This includes setting limits and alerts on usage for full control of communications costs. Vizada also provides Terralink Interconnect, a range of terrestrial interconnection solutions, including dedicated leased lines for customers requiring a high-performance data connection and considerable bandwidth directly to the customer’s headquarters. Vizada’s Terralink IP Addressing enables allocation of fixed IP addresses to BGAN terminals, necessary for videoconferencing and ensuring high levels of security. BGAN X-Stream is commercially available through Vizada and uses the Inmarsat-4 EMEA satellite making the service accessible for users located in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and globally starting the end of June 2009. The service is accessible from all BGAN Class 1 terminals from HNS and Thrane & Thrane, with no additional hardware costs required.
