Techs At Baikonur Prepping Launch Vehicle For Telstar-11N

Telstar-11N satellite Telstar-11N, a Ku-band satellite packing 39 high-power, Ku-band transponders that's being built by Space Systems/Loral for Telesat, will connect three continents when occupying its orbital slot at 15° W: North America, Western Europe, and Africa. With a unique Atlantic Ocean beam, the satellite will support growing demand for mobile broadband from maritime and aeronautical markets. The satellite will be equipped with 39 active Ku-band transponders, some of which can be switched to meet changing market demand over the satellite’s 15-year design life. Preparations are now under way by Russian technicians as the prep for the launch of the Zenit-3SLB rocket with DM-SLB booster that will carry the U.S. Telstar satellite into space. The launch is expected to occur at the end of December from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan.
