At the ANGA Cable 2011 conference and trade fair in Cologne, Germany, May 3 to 5, 2011, DEV Systemtechnik — for the first time — presents new redundancy options for its Intelligent Optribution Chassis DEV 7114. Unscheduled downtimes cause enormous follow-up costs, so there are heavy demands on the services availability of satellite ground stations, CATV head-ends and playout centers. Redundancy of important system functions and minimization of device count in the system are trusted measures for secure operations. The new redundancy options for the Optribution device are 6 x 1+1 maximum (one back-up path per main signal path), 1 x 4+1 (one back-up path per four main signal paths) or 1 x 8+1 (one back-up path per eight main signal paths). Up to now, this functionality could be realized only with at least two system components, the 3RU chassis DEV 7113 with 20 optical slots and the 4RU signal distribution system DEV 2190. Within the Optribution product family, the 4RU chassis DEV 7114 with a total of 16 optical slots distributes (1:8, 16, 32, 64, 128) and switches (4x8, 16, 32 und 4x64) the incoming signals. It may be equipped with a multitude of modules and options, including optical CWDM multiplexers and demultiplexers.
