A Migration Marvel For NewCom Int'l

NewCom International has successfully migrated all satellite services previously served by five transponders in Express 3A to the new Express AM 44.

This important migration was completed within minutes and with minimal down time for our customers. AM 44 is now part of NewCom's strong offer to serve Africa's digital convergence efforts, not only with dedicated SCPC services, but also with shared platforms such as iDirect. NewCom's current additional bandwidth available in AM 44 is 40 MHz. Express AM44, weighing 5,582 pounds [2,532 kg] at launch, uses its own propulsion system to park itself at its permanent home in geostationary orbit at 11 degrees West. The craft replaced the Express A3 satellite which serves customers across Russia, former Soviet states, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The satellite carries a communications payload of 16 Ku-, 10 C- and a single L-band transponder. The payload is designed to provide digital television and radio broadcasting, data networking, videoconferencing and Internet services with a projected lifespan for the satellite of 12 years.
