Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a potential total value of $38 million to supply military communications and field assistance to international partners of the U.S. Southern Command. Harris received $7.7 million in delivery orders in the first quarter of fiscal 2012 to supply Falcon tactical radios for the program. The four-year contract, awarded by the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT), is a vehicle for Harris to a provide radios, accessories, communication systems and services to these partners. The contract is part of the U.S. Government's counter-illicit trafficking program, which focuses on collaboration and interoperability by providing defense equipment, training and services. The contract covers an expansive sustainment program with certified Harris trainers and engineers providing operator and maintenance support throughout the region. It also provides a logistics backbone to support the inventory of existing Falcon II® radios — such as the RF-5800H High Frequency and the RF-5800M multiband radios — as well as a path to upgrade to Falcon III radios such as the RF-7800M multiband and RF-7800V VHF radios.
