South American MobileOp Signs On For Backhaul SATCOM From Comtech EF Data

Comtech EF Data CDM-625 satmodem Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) has announced their Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., has obtained a $2.2 million order for satellite communications equipment from a mobile operator in South America who will use the equipment to support a cellular backhaul network expansion.

The order encompasses CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modems with DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier and CSAT C-Band Transceivers. The CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem includes DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression, Low Density Parity Check codes, and the recently introduced nexgen, forward error correction, VersaFEC. The CDM-625's advanced technologies facilitate maximum bandwidth efficiencies, which are principally advantageous in regions where satellite capacity is limited, such as South America. The CSAT Transceivers provide superior performance, long-term reliability and ease of installation. The units are designed for use in communication systems or satellite uplink data systems for the reception of SCPC/MCPC, DAMA and TDMA communication signals. The CSAT is environmentally sealed and is designed to be hard mounted on or near the antenna structure.
