Beam Communications... A Most Northerly Need (SATCOM)

[SatNews] Beam Communications Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of World Reach Limited (ASX: WRR), has successfully installed its...

...Inmarsat products IsatDock Pro at the Antarctic Polar Station in Russia. The Russian Federation have five polar stations with more than 150 operating personnel during research seasons. There are many different satellite communication systems in use, such as Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro, BGAN and Iridium. The unique Antarctic landscape allows using the Inmarsat satellite equipment even at 78 to 79 latitudes.

Beam’s dealer, JSC ANTARSAT, has supplied different types of communication solutions to the Antarctic for many years. Beam’s IsatDock Pro resulted in a high quality of the calls in spite of the severe environment. Different kinds of antennas were tested during the installation process. Voice quality was high using ISD710 Maritime Active Antenna or the ISD700 Fixed Passive Antenna.

This new SATCOM solution is mainly used for service communication, providing the communications between several Polar stations as well as with heads and supervisors in the mainland head office, as well as with families.

The IsatDock Pro is an intelligent docking station for the IsatPhone Pro, designed to support voice services via Bluetooth, RJ11/POTS—the handset fits securely into the dock, which is also key lockable. Other features include phone charging, a USB data port, inbuilt ringer antenna and a permanent power connectin to the dock
