Satellite Channel has chosen the Latens and Media Nucleus solutions, which comprise of Latens DTH software CAS and will operate on set-top boxes initially from Arion, providing Satellite Channel with a highly flexible and secure DTH delivery system.

Satellite Channel was awarded a DTH operating license at the start of the year and will launch with a minimum of 80 national and international HD/SD channels.  Satellite Channel targets bringing DTH services to 300,000 to 400,000 subscribers within the first 3 years of operations. The company said that with the launch of the first DTH platform in Nepal, using the latest and most advanced digital technology available would be a step changing TV experience for consumers in the region and dramatically reduce the government incurred losses through the illegal import of DTH services.
