Rohde & Schwarz... @ NAB 2013 With... (SatBroadcasting™—Event)

[SatNews] Rohde & Schwarz presents its latest solutions with a focus on the...

...North America and Latin America markets at NAB 2013. One of the highlights is the recently introduced R&S AVHE100 headend solution for encoding and multiplexing, now available with satellite standards. Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary DVS complements these innovations with its own systems that perfect efficiency for studio broadcast and mastering in post production.

> Rohde & Schwarz has a new location at NAB 2013: The company is showcasing its successful portfolio of products for all areas of the audio, video, media and broadcasting market in South Lower Hall, booths 6316 and 6320. One of these products is the recently introduced R&S AVHE100 headend solution, which is now also available for the DVB-S and DVB-S2 satellite standard. What sets this headend apart from conventional solutions is its architecture and innovative technologies such as R&S CrossFlowIP, which greatly improve failsafety. All major encoding/multiplexing center features are integrated into just a few hardware components, making it one of the most compact systems on the market. Rohde & Schwarz also presents its first solution for ISDB-Tb transmitters: the R&S AVG050 ISDB-Tb BTS gateway with DVB-S/DVB-S2 receiver.

Rohde & Schwarz introduces two new test and measurement innovations: the R&S EFL110/210 test receiver and R&S SLG signal generator. The portable R&S EFL110/210 is ideal for testing cable TV networks to detect undesired electromagnetic emissions. This economical, easy-to-operate test receiver locates interference in LTE networks caused by leakage in the cable TV network. The R&S SLG is a multichannel signal generator that can generate up to 32 satellite transponder signals simultaneously. This compact instrument can simulate an entire uplink/downlink band, effectively replacing complex, multiple-component solutions—for convenient testing of ground stations, satellite payloads, tuners and set-top boxes (STBs).

Visitors can also take a closer look at the R&S UPP and R&S UPV audio analyzers. Rohde & Schwarz works with Dolby Laboratories Inc., and its audio analyzers now come with new software, allowing Dolby licensees to perform compliance tests quickly and easily. The test engineer is guided through the entire test based on the device type. All measurements are performed in accordance with Dolby requirements and documented in a test report. The required software packages are free of charge for Dolby licensees.

Rohde & Schwarz has brought out a new software solution for monitoring and testing broadcast networks that enhances its measurement innovations. R&S BC-NETSTATE is a flexible, non-hardware-specific network management system that is extremely user-friendly. The software includes all major functionality such as error management, alarm correlation and network quality testing. Since each device at the transmitter site or on the network can be monitored, all device parameters can be scanned, processed and displayed. The intuitive and fully customizable user interface enables the user to immediately identify fault messages and quickly forward them to the appropriate specialist. The result is significantly higher failsafety.
