L-3 Electron Devices... Lose That Loss (SATCOM)

[SatNews] New MPMs have been released for direct antenna mounts...

L-3 Electron Devices has introduced their latest Microwave Power Modules (MPMs) for Ku- and Ka-band communication applications. The new modules are geared for use in airborne, naval, or ground communications applications and were specifically designed in a revolutionary weight-balanced, split-package configuration intended for direct antenna mounts. Available in either Ku- or Ka-band configurations, L-3’s new MPM designs significantly reduce conventional RF system losses, enhancing overall efficiency while also improving problematic pointing and position stabilization issues. At just 1.1 inches high, this compact two-piece set weighs in at a balanced 5.2 pounds and is MIL-STD-461E compliant. For systems requiring MIL-STD-188-164 linear power, an integrated pre-distortion linearizer is used to produce 50 watts of linear power in Ku-band or 25 watts of linear power in Ka-band. For “sat power”-oriented systems, the integrated linearizer can be removed, allowing significantly higher CW power levels.
