NovelSat Takes Award At IBC 2011 For Best Of...

[SatNews] Another year's exhibition at the RAI in Amsterdam is over and word comes of an award presented to...

NovelSat won the award for “Best Satellite Contribution / Distribution / Transmission Solution” in this year’s Cable & Satellite International’s Awards for their new ground-breaking NS3™ 3G-Sat modulation technology.

The award was presented to NovelSat’s Chairman David Furstenburg, at a presentation ceremony which took place on Friday 9 September during the IBC exhibition at the RAI in Amsterdam.

Other nominations in this category included Ericsson and their “Voyager II”, as well as Gilat Satellite Networks’ “WebEnhance” and Newtec’s “Sky Italia's Predistortion Solution”.  The category was open to all forms of IP and other media transport networks, including cable- and fiber- based systems, and those with a terrestrial component, and the awards were judged independently of Cable & Satellite International by a panel of 14 experts that includes practicing and former heads of engineering and operations from some of the world's most important network operators, well-respected consultants and senior industry analysts.

Developed by NovelSat, NS3™ is a revolutionary modulation technology which significantly increases video, data, and trunking satellite bandwidth over the current DVB-S2 standard by capacity boosts of between 28 percent and 37 percent on 36 MHz transponders and 56 percent-78 percent on 72 MHz wideband transponders, as well as an incomparable data performance rate of 358Mbps (1Gbps in 2012).

Goran Nastic, editor at Cable & Satellite International, comments, “Every now and again a solution comes along that can truly revolutionize a market. NS3 from NovelSat is one such solution for satellite.”

Itzik Wulkan, CEO at NovelSat commented, “We are extremely proud to receive such a major and well-know industry award.  We were up against fierce competition such as market leaders Ericsson, and since our technology was only launched earlier this year, this is a major triumph for us.”

Established in 2003, the CSI Awards are now in their ninth year and have become one of the most comprehensive and competitive technology awards in the world, designed to reward technical and product marketing excellence in the cable, satellite, terrestrial broadcasting, IPTV, online/internet video and mobile TV sectors.
