- SkyLife, the Korean satellite broadcaster, has deployed an Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) video processing solution. The system enables the broadcaster to enhance its HD offering and move another step closer to realizing its vision of everything in HD by 2015. Ericsson’s HD solution allows SkyLife to potentially deliver over 150 HD channels to more than 3 million subscribers. The improvement in bitrate efficiency means that SkyLife will be able to meet its targets for HD expansion without the need for additional transponder space. This represents a massive saving in operational expenditure and gives SkyLife a key differentiator in a competitive market. SkyLife has selected a system comprised of the Ericsson Video Processor with the world class EN8190 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder modules, Ericsson MX8400 System Multiplexer and the Ericsson RX1290 Multi-format SD/HD professional receiver, all under the management of Ericsson’s nCompass Control.
