- Unnamed sources... in other words, a rumor... state another satellite TV channel is being planned by News Corp, this time for Japan. The company currently broadcasts a number of channels in Japan, and word is the Rupert Murdoch firm is mulling over a the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary via their News Broadcasting Japan Company division so they can apply for a new channel license.
- Norsat International Inc. has entered into a strategic partnership with Italy-based Navisystem Marine Electronics S.R.L., a provider of maritime very small aperture terminals ("VSAT"). As per the terms of the agreement, Norsat will sell Navisystem's marine satellite terminals under the Norsat brand in North America, and Navisystem will act as a non-exclusive reseller of Norsat's satellite systems in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In addition, the two companies will explore opportunities for joint development projects, working to leverage each company's respective technology expertise to introduce a suite of marine satellite terminals that meets the varying needs of government and commercial maritime markets worldwide.
- Pacific Century Matrix has officially become GlobeCast Hong Kong Ltd., following its acquisition by GlobeCast earlier this summer. The successful integration of the company brings two key satellite platforms on MEASAT-3 and Asiasat-3S to GlobeCast's worldwide network. The Hong Kong office marks GlobeCast's 18th sales office worldwide and fifth office in Asia. Mr. Patrick Yeung has been named General Manager and Vice President of Sales of GlobeCast Hong Kong. Both Mr. Yeung and GlobeCast Asia CEO David Justin will be on site at the IBC trade show in Amsterdam for "conversations".
