Space Dynamics Laboratory (USRF)... Moving On Up...


Holt photo USUR SDL The Utah State University Research Foundation has named Niel Holt director of its Space Dynamics Laboratory. The appointment became effective on November 13. The Space Dynamics Laboratory is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, while the Energy Dynamics Laboratory is approaching its first anniversary. Both laboratories are units of the USU Research Foundation. The Foundation was created in 1967 as a nonprofit corporation owned by Utah State University. Its purpose is applied research and development, advancement of innovative technologies, and the development and implementation of complex systems for government and industrial applications.

Holt will lead a 340 employee team with headquarters in North Logan, Utah, and locations in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Los Angeles, California, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Washington, D.C., Huntsville, Alabama, Bedford, Massachusetts, and Houston, Texas. Holt’s most recent assignment at SDL was director for its Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems business division.

In order to better support growth of the USU Research Foundation, Lemon named James Marshall to an expanded role for business development. In this role Marshall will provide oversight and integration of business development operations for both the Space Dynamics Laboratory and Energy Dynamics Laboratory. Marshall will continue to serve as director of business development for the Space Dynamics Laboratory.
