GeoPro LBS Inc. has been selected to develop the satellite messaging gateway and consumer web application for inReach™, DeLorme’s groundbreaking new two-way satellite communicator with GPS. DeLorme selected GeoPro for its best-in-class personnel tracking application and Iridium short burst data (SBD) network expertise. DeLorme inReach promises to revolutionize the way people stay affordably connected in areas not covered by cellular phones. Its capabilities address the needs of anyone from outdoors enthusiasts to professional users in remote outposts. A key component of DeLorme’s solution is the satellite messaging gateway and web application that will be powered by GeoPro. Among other functions, it will enable users to select a rate plan and activate their service, and share their tracking and messaging activity, and manage and route all tracking and text messages.
The DeLorme inReach two-way satellite communicator made its commercial debut on November 15, 2011, and will operate as a standalone device, or can be paired with DeLorme’s PN-60w or any Android phone for additional messaging and mapping capabilities.
