Telecomp Austria Group (TA AG) has announced that its Fixed Net segment is set to launch a global service package for International Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) via its partner Telesat’s operated Telstar 11N satellite with a mission critical focus on the African continent.

The Fixed Net segment estimates, provides, and manages Public Switched Telephone Network access, VoIP, wired broadband and Wi-B services, IT solutions, leased lines, electronic payment, and safety and security systems. The offering to ISP’s will include TA Ag’s wireless solutions available via its satellite center in Aflenz and its international wired broadband infrastructure called JetStream. It is targeting underserved regions in Africa, and is strategically gearing up for live global audio and video streams of the World Cup Football Championship 2010 in South Africa that is estimated to attract as many, if not more, viewers than the Olympics.

TMCnet had earlier reported that the Telstar 11N satellite is located 37.5 degrees West in geostationary orbit, which is over the Equator at an altitude of 22,236 miles above sea level, uses 39 high powered Ku-band transponders to support a wide range of video, broadband, and data applications in North America, Europe, and Africa and across the Atlantic Ocean. The report added that the satellite provides continuous coverage of trans Atlantic shipping and was manufactured by Space Systems/Loral (SS/L), uses SS/L's proven 1300 platform, and has a solar array span of 31m and an expected 15 year mission life. TA AG will be using the iDirect platform provided by NewWave Broadband, via the satellite, that delivers broadband services to land-based, aeronautical, and maritime customers across the globe with Digital Video Broadcast-Satellite (DVB-S) and DVB-S2 technologies.
