This first satellite image was captured on September 1st at 13:32 UTC (9:32 a.m. EDT from Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-12). In the image, Hurricane Gustav is just crossing the Louisiana coast while Tropical Storm Hanna spins near the Turks and Caicos Islands. The second image to the left is of Tropical Storm Hanna. She has virtually parked herself north of the Caicos Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, continuing to bring residents heavy rains and winds. A tropical storm warning remains in effect for the central and southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos islands. This visible image of Hanna was created by data from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), an instrument that flies aboard NASA's Aqua satellite, and was created on August 31st at 18:11 UTC (2:11 p.m. EDT). The photo below is of Tropical Storm Fay, photographed from the International Space Station.

The third satellite image, below, of FAY was captured on August 28th at 12:25 UTC (8:25 a.m. EDT, also from GOES-12. In the image, the surface Low pressure area that was tropical storm Fay is the cloud cover over the mid-Atlantic that stretch northward. GOES is operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, with the image created by NASA's GOES Project.
